Tory Ketchum
Tory started riding at the age of 6 while she was on vacation with her family at a ranch in Wyoming. She quickly fell in love with horses and began lessons under the guidance of Robin Greenwood at Grand Central Show Stables at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, NY. During her time there she had a very successful pony career winning classes at The National Horse Show, The Pennsylvania National Horse Show and Devon on two of her top ponies, Unlock the Magic and Espresso and was also awarded Best Child Rider on a Pony and Grand Pony Hunter Champion on her pony Espresso at Devon.
After a long break from the sport, she came back, worked her way up and since has been successfully competing in the High Amateurs, CSI 2*, CSI 3* and developing young horses in the Young Jumper classes, winning top ribbons with her wonderful string of horses; Isaac 22, Extasy, Patience van den Dries, Maestro van de Volkaert, and Be Happy. She is excited to welcome a new 10-year-old mare to her string, Arusha, from Jos Lansink and his team. She will also be bringing over a promising 5-year-old mare, Ushuaia van het Bellehof Z in the fall, who has been well started by Suzanne van Mierlo of Van Mierlo Sport Horses in Holland. Tory also enjoys the breeding aspect of the sport and has bred several youngsters that are coming along including Q’s Hendrix CF, a 5yo gelding by Quincy Car x Super Trooper de Ness who is being well developed by Ty Simpson!
Tory has the utmost respect and love for her horses and the team that helps her do what she loves. She has a strong work ethic, drive and is continuously striving to be better and continue learning. She has a tremendous amount of admiration for Nicki as a trainer, as a horsewoman and as a friend! She really appreciates Nicki’s hard work, talent, and love of the horses as well as her ability to allow the horses to be themselves to help both horse and rider thrive in and out of the show ring.
